LAST SAMURAI, THE

It was good... that scene where the samurais first appear in the forest on horses, comming in from the mist... that was a classic. But um, yea, the final battle wasn't historically accurate. Read below:

"In 1886 and 1887 there was an actual Samurai Rebellion led by a legendary figure named Saigo Takamori. He led a band of Samurai expatriot warriors who were struggling to survive with their salaries eliminated and westernization threatening their way of life. The rebellion was more economic and cultural than spiritual and political. The final battle, which took place in 1877, was a confrontation of 40,000 rebels and 60,000 government troops that had been trained by western envoys from several nations, Germany and Britain chief among these. More than half those Samurai died, including Takamori, who was wounded and then took his life in the traditional manner. Another 2,000 rebels were executed after the battle. Saigo Takamori went on to become a hero to the Japanese people when victorious emperor pardoned him posthumously."

Geez, how fast time passes... finals are next week, winter break, spring, summer, and I'll be 20. TWENTY! I mean, just think... in 10 years, I'll be 30, and by then I'm supposed to be married and working a steady job. I'll probably have to take care of my kid and shit too. And I'm still digging holes at the beach.

Honestly I can't imagine myself in 10 years, but I guess in the meantime, I'll just have to take it one day at a time... which reminds me: I have two essays due and an exam this week.... If I screw up I'd hinder my chances of working a well-paid steady job in the future, heh. See, I'm planning ahead already.
